Sailing yacht POLARIS

The yacht

Our POLARIS, a special version of the GARCIA Exploration 52, really is a very special sailing yacht.

Built from aluminium, with internal ballast, integral centreboard and elaborate insulation, this sailing yacht is at home on all the world’s oceans. The deck saloon with a 270 degree panoramic view offers a comfortable seating area that can also be converted into a huge double bed, in addition to the steering position and large galley. The equipment is exceptionally comprehensive in all areas.

Safely underway with two professional skippers: For safety reasons and to ensure optimum crew support, the POLARIS is always skippered by two professional skippers. Nevertheless, we are happy to actively involve the crew in the sailing manoeuvres and the planning and execution of the trip.

Security

The extremely stable construction (10 mm aluminium in the keel area) in conjunction with the watertight collision sheets in the bow and stern also allow trips to high latitudes with the risk of ice and extreme weather.

The split sail plan with battened mainsail and 3 reefs as well as a large genoa and furling jib on the inner forestay ensures good performance and the ability to manoeuvre safely at very high wind speeds.

Of course, our POLARIS is also equipped and certified in accordance with See-BG. In addition, the most important items of equipment are provided in duplicate.

Comfort

The GARCIA EXPLORATION 52 has a pleasant seakeeping behaviour even in rough seas thanks to its design with internal ballast and integral centreboard.

The very spacious owner’s cabin in the foredeck has its own bathroom with toilet. The berth has removable leeboards. The two spacious aft cabins with wide berths and plenty of storage space are also equipped with leeboards.

A separate cabin is available for the skipper/co-skipper.
A redundant hot water heating system with radiators and heat exchangers in all areas, combined with the extreme insulation, also makes trips to the Arctic Ocean comfortable and cosy.

Performance

Although our POLARIS is of course not a racer, its length and, in combination with the additional sails such as Code-Zero and Oxley, it certainly offers the possibility of reaching distances of 200 nautical miles and more.

A completely different performance is her seaworthiness in rough weather, her ice capability and the range under engine of up to 1200 nautical miles.

Her powerful 150 hp engine gives her every opportunity to make headway even against the wind and current. Should we ever be at anchor, you can easily get ashore with our large fixed-hull dinghy and 15 hp outboard motor.
