For safety reasons and for the comfort of our guests, we currently sail our POLARIS with a skipper and co-skipper.
Nevertheless, our sailing trips are active voyages in which the participation of the guests is expressly desired, sometimes required. They are not all-inclusive cruises.
All participants on a sailing trip share responsibility for life on board. Only if all participants play their part – e.g. in preparing meals and doing the baking – will it be an enjoyable and unforgettable time.
The costs for provisions, drinks, harbor demurrage and diesel are covered from the on-board funds. This also includes other activities such as eating out. All crew members, with the exception of the main skipper, contribute equally to the on-board fund. The main skipper is also fed from the on-board funds. For cruises with 2 skippers, HS Segelreisen pays the catering share of the on-board fund for one skipper.
Living in a relatively confined space such as on a sailing yacht requires everyone to be considerate and willing to compromise.
Safety is our top priority, which is why a detailed safety briefing is given by the skipper or co-skipper at the start of every tour. Participation is compulsory.
Each participant takes part in the trip and everything connected with it at his or her own risk. By registering, the participant expressly declares that he/she is able to cope with the physical and medical demands of such a sailing trip. In case of doubt, please contact us.
If you are prone to seasickness or are not sure, you should obtain suitable medication before the start of the trip.
The organizer provides a suitable sailing yacht as well as two very experienced and prudent skippers, who take care of the official requirements as well as the nautical supervision of the yacht and crew. The skippers have the necessary licenses and insurance.
The skippers keep a logbook for the trip and issue a nautical mileage certificate on request.
The port of departure and destination are usually predetermined; the journey there and the ports and anchorages visited are agreed between the skippers and the crew according to their respective interests and weather conditions. Ultimately, the skipper’s decision is final.
Our skippers do their utmost to reach the advertised start and finish ports on time. In rare cases, storms or technical defects may force us to vary the places of arrival and departure. The arrival and departure to the respective ports of departure and destination must be organized by yourself.
