Simon Eder

I sailed for the first time in 1990 in Australia on the Whitsunday Islands. But then I started diving and worked as a PADI diving instructor for many years. From New Zealand, Australia, the Maldives and the Philippines to the Red Sea, I have travelled by dive boat and dived many of the best dive sites in the world until my self-employment demanded all my energy and attention.

For a few years now, work has been at a normal level so that I have been able to revive my old longing for sailing. In the last two and a half years, I have sailed over 5000 nautical miles and have been able to gain a lot of experience in a short space of time. Whether it was a heavy weather cruise, an Atlantic crossing, salt water in the bilge, a striking engine or an instructor for SKS courses, I’ve done it all. My training as a toolmaker and mechanical engineer have helped me just as much as my training as a PADI diving instructor, where I learnt a lot about how to convey the fun of the sport as well as the technical content. At the same time, I completed all the necessary licences up to SHS in order to be well trained in theory.

When I’m not working as a skipper, I support my company Numberger GmbH with help and advice. In more than 20 years, I have built it up from a two-man operation to a company with around 30 employees. On board the Polaris I look forward to the people and their stories that you bring on board and to giving you an unforgettable holiday.
